Birthday Balloons, Helium, and Party

Birthday Balloons

To quote Winnie the Pooh, “nobody can be uncheered with a balloon”. Balloons are the ultimate symbol of celebration and are commonly used for everything from birthday parties to corporate events. Whether they’re simply brightly colored or emblazoned with a quiche phrase, balloons are cheer makers.

Balloonclub.com was designed for those that can appreciate the simple joy that a balloon can bring. They are universally loved by both adults and children and are some of the most popular decorations for parties of all types. We have designed this website to be used as an informational resource for people that are looking for balloon ideas, or just want to know more about them in general. All information posted is meant to be as unbiased as possible, without regard to any particular company or product.

The balloon is an extremely simple item, being nothing more than a bag filled with some sort of gas. The first balloons were often made from dried animal bladders, but today we use materials such as latex rubber and Mylar for most modern balloons. These materials are not only flexible, but are capable of holding the gas inside the balloon for much longer than other previous materials.

While balloons can be used for a multitude of applications, including meteorology and transportation, they are most commonly used for celebrations. Birthday balloons are especially popular items. These balloons come in many different sizes, shapes and colors, and are a staple of birthday celebrations all over the world. They can also be found in both latex and Mylar versions. A balloon bouquet is often given the same way flower arrangements would be.

Birthday balloons can be made to float or can be relegated to blowing about the floor. For balloons that will be required to float, a helium tank will probably be required. Helium, because it is lighter than air, causes a balloon to float freely when filled with this gas. Tanks full of compressed helium can be rented from most party supply stores and can make quick work of filling hundreds of balloons. If you want balloons to circulate around the floor, all they need is the air from your lungs. However, if you have hundreds of balloons to fill, air tanks can be rented as well.

As previously mentioned, most party balloons are made from either latex or Mylar. Latex balloons are most commonly used when they are to be disposed of later. This is because latex balloons generally deflate after a day or two, and since they are relatively inexpensive, it’s not a big deal to throw them away, or better yet, recycle them. Mylar balloons on the other hand, can last weeks before they start to deflate, and as such they are most often used when the balloons will be taken by guests after the event. These balloons are often emblazoned with a message for the guest of honor, or with a holiday related theme. Keep in mind though Mylar balloons tend to be much more expensive than their latex counterparts.
